Rehabilitation work has begun on the Haboub Al-Reeh and Al-Hayya canals in the northern Homs countryside to enhance the efficiency of the irrigation system.
In cooperation and coordination between the General Authority for Water Resources and the Aga Khan Foundation, rehabilitation work has begun on the infrastructure of the Haboub Al-Rih and Al-Hayya canals in the northern countryside of Homs. The aim is to improve the efficiency of the irrigation system and enhance its ability to deliver water to agricultural lands.
Work commenced following a meeting held at the Homs Water Resources Directorate, attended by representatives of the Aga Khan Foundation, the project contractor, and relevant technical staff from the Directorate. The meeting, chaired by the Director of Water Resources, addressed the necessary technical and logistical arrangements for the project's launch.
Following the meeting, a site visit was conducted, during which the work area was handed over to the contractor, and rehabilitation work commenced under project number (AkF/076/26). This project will contribute to improving the canals' operational readiness and efficiency, and supporting the stability of irrigation services in the region.
