A word from the CEO

The General Authority for Water Resources is the legal custodian of water resources in Syria. Based on this principle, the Authority, represented by its central administration, directorates, and branch directorates in the governorates, works diligently and continuously to secure water for citizens according to Syria's strategic priorities (drinking, agriculture, industry, services, etc.). It also works to address the numerous challenges posed by climate change and the drought conditions affecting our region in general, as well as the economic and political circumstances in Syria in particular.

We pray to God to guide our steps so that we may contribute to the recovery of Syria after liberation, making it a free, strong, and productive nation, thanks to the dedication of its people and those who govern it.

Water police seize unlicensed drilling rig in western Homs countryside

The water police in the Homs Water Resources Directorate seized an unlicensed drilling rig in the Talkalakh area of western Homs countryside, which was being used for illegal well drilling operations, during intensive monitoring tours carried out by the directorate in cooperation with the concerned authorities, within the framework of protecting water resources and reducing encroachments on groundwater.

Rehabilitation work has begun on the Haboub Al-Reeh and Al-Hayya canals in the northern Homs countryside to enhance the efficiency of the irrigation system.

Within the framework of cooperation and coordination between the General Authority for Water Resources and the Aga Khan Foundation, work has begun to rehabilitate the infrastructure of the Haboub Al-Reeh and Al-Hayya canals in the northern countryside of Homs, with the aim of raising the efficiency of the irrigation system and improving its ability to deliver water to agricultural lands.

Homs Resources coordinates with technical services

As part of the coordination and follow-up between government agencies to ensure the implementation of works in a manner that meets technical safety standards, the Directorate of Water Resources, in coordination with the Directorate of Technical Services in Homs, rehabilitated the concrete bridge on branch canal 2A of the Homs-Hama irrigation network by widening it to align with the Talbiseh (Qani al-Assi) road, which is currently being rehabilitated.

Repairing two faults on the fifth line to enhance irrigation of 30 hectares in Arab Al-Shati

The staff of the Water Resources Directorate in Tartous completed the repair work on two malfunctions on the fifth line in the village of Arab al-Shati within the eastern branch of the Al-Abrash Dam, which contributes to the stability of irrigation for about 30 hectares of agricultural land in the village.
